"About Us"
Hi there
I'm Richard and I own most of Fobbly.com. I say most because there are a few other guys behind it to and not to mention my incredible wife who has supported me for most of the last four years while I have been developing full time. (This thing has to pay off or I'm dead meat) I work from home in the offices we have built under our house for our work at home business.
My brother (Peter) and I have been working with computers for over 20 years, since before the advent of the IBM PC and in the times of 512k ram, No floppy disks, No Hard Drives, No CDRoms, No Flash Cards. Just a bit of Ram in a machine and software written in Machine Code. In fact, if your a computer nerd, you'll be interested to know that we had a computer that ran two screens and had just 1bit Ram and 1bit Rom. (Most may not understand that) Anyway we started off in the days of the Sinclair and the BBC and Peter started his programming career writing in machine code before Basic even came out. Now he programs in more languages than I know the names of and has in depth of knowledge about computers that I think he doesn't even know he has, including database structuring. So he's the Brains behind the way it's all structured. Peters the odd one out as he doesn't work from home, he works in an office with his business partner.
Then There's Rodney who has been the backbone of the project. I met Rodney through a friend who also ski's. (not that I am doing much of it at the moment as I have torn all the tendons around my knee) Rodney is another work at home person. He lives in a little village at the bottom of the Ski field in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand. (We have Business Trips down their when ever we can.) Rodney is a self taught programmer but I think he is a cut above all the rest for two reasons. 1) I think where he lives allows him to concentrate a lot easier than working in an office in the city. 2) and more importantly, Rodney thinks outside the box, unlike most programmers. He will always find a better way to do something and that makes him unique.
And Matt. Matt was with us near the beginning but left us for a while and went to do his own thing for a couple of years. Then last year we were talking and I think that the Penny Dropped and he suddenly realized what we were actually about and the potential of what we had created and how it would make money so easily. Matt has worked with us ever since, 50 to 60 hours a week, without any pay. That's how dedicated we all are about seeing this thing work.
Matt has been a Publican (not a Pelican) a Publican. (for those that are ignorant like I was and don't know what that is, it is a person that runs a Pub) Matt owned a real quaint Pub in the famous tourist resort of Queenstown in the South Island. From this he has incredible PR skills but most of all he has the drive and decision making power that we all lack. (In other words "He Runs The Show")
So that leaves Me. As I said before I have been in computers for a long time. Over 20 years. I started using the Internet back in about 1986 when there was just Compuserve. We worked with computers in 1985 setting up Sign Systems under the Dos operating system. Then moved into Large Computer driven Routers and then Digital Printers. After that I took a break for a few years and traveled around this beautiful country of ours with my Family, all the time keeping involved with computers and the Internet.
I'm the Nutty guy that came up with this hair brain idea after simply surfing and studying the Internet for a number of months. The concept was simple and seamed like it would solve a lot of the problems on the Internet. I never realized then, just how big it was going to become and you'll see what I mean when you read "The Next Wave" reports.
This IS BIG and I am convinced that it will sweep across the world over the next 5 to 10 years with or without Fobbly.com. My desire and dream is to create a system that will not only make money that I can give to support starving children in need and youth that need help, but also that I may be able to create a system that will help many, many other people get wealthy so that they also can give to those that are less fortunate that themselves and at the same time build better communities in which we live.
Anyway that's about all of us. Oh yeah there are also a couple of Directors who have stood by me right from the beginning. Brian and Mark. Brian has a degree in Project Management and has a successful business in Auckland here. Mark is involved in property development and is one of those people that always seems to find the things that could go wrong before they do. He's also a great PR person who has the knack of finding the Politically Correct way to handle a situation.
So that's the team. But most importantly I need to mention my wife again, who, if it were not for her, I would never have been able to get this far with this project. My wife and my children have had to put up with the hours of work that I have put into Fobbly.com over the last four years. We have had very little holiday time and many weeks I have hardly seen them.
So if you want to know anymore about us then you'll just have to get on board and get to meet us personally.
